Under the guidance of the Archdiocese of Portland, Resurrection has Masses with limited attendance, physical distancing and sanitation protocols. For the safety of all, please pay special attention to the following guidelines. We ask that if you are even slightly feeling ill, experiencing any symptoms of illness and/or allergy symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, please do not attend Mass. Our main concern is the health and safety of all our parishioners. The dispensation for Sunday Mass obligation is still in place and you are still able to live-stream Mass on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Guidelines for Signing Up (Sign ups below)

  • Each person in a household must be registered for Mass and signed up individually.
  • Anyone who has even the slightest symptom or feeling of being sick must remain home.
  • You can register using the links below or by calling the parish office. If you call the office, you must speak to someone, leaving a message does not guarantee you a spot.
  • Spots are limited to 100 attendees plus Mass Ministers and Fr. Bill.
  • Please sign up online and in advance (preferably by Thursday) if you would like to attend Saturday or Sunday Mass. You will sign up at the door for Wednesday and Thursday Daily Mass, and no sign ups are required if you would like to livestream Mass and receive the Eucharist in the parking lot (Sunday and Wednesday).

Questions

How do I cancel my registration?
Please email bulletin@rcparish.org if you wish to cancel your registration, change your Mass time, or have a question about signing up.

Will the church be cleaned between Masses?
Yes, we will have professional cleaners clean the church after Mass.

Will you continue to have gluten free hosts?

Yes, Fr. Bill will ask during the Mass.

Can I still receive the Eucharist if I’m not comfortable attending Mass in the courtyard or in the church?

Yes, we invite you to come livestream Mass in your car on Sundays and Wednesdays. After Mass, a Eucharistic Minister will come out to the parking lot and distribute Holy Communion to those who are standing outside of their cars. For the safety of those around you, please leave space in between cars and wear your masks while you are waiting to receive the Blessed Sacrament.

How can I receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation?

Fr. Bill offers opportunities for Reconciliation on Sundays after Mass, outdoors by the steps of the church.

Parish Updates 2021

February 9, 2021 by Sarah Hoffman

LENT

On February 17th we began Lent with Ash Wednesday. As Catholics, we are encouraged to make this season a time to grow close to God, and return to Him if we have strayed. “Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart” we heard in the Ash Wednesday readings. You may hear the words “pray, fast, give” associated with Lent. We use these tools, prayer, fasting and almsgiving, as ways to draw near to the Lord. You might consider starting your day with prayer or setting aside a specific time to pray each day or even once a week. Think about fasting from social media, gossiping, negative news sources and instead use that time in a way that grows your love for God and your neighbor. Give one of your family members an extra hug, do something kind for someone else, or share what you have with those less fortunate. There are many, many ways to put these tools into practice. In his Ash Wednesday homily, Fr. Bill suggested that we pick one of them and do it with JOY. We should be aiming to grow and nourish our relationships with God and others, rather than focusing on what we’re giving up or what we can’t have.

LENTEN SMALL GROUPS

Jesus gives us the two greatest commandments so that we can’t miss them: “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

This is our call as Christians. We know that it is important to build community as the Body of Christ so that we can encourage each other, inspire one another, and learn from one another. We’re offering Lenten Small Groups to build community, reflect on the call to love God and one another, and strengthen us in our mission as disciples of Jesus Christ. Learn more here.

LENTEN OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE

This Lenten Season we have two main opportunities, Family Promise and $1.00 A Day for Lent. We are partnering with Family Promise of Tualatin which is an organization that supports families experiencing houselessness. Family Promise is unique in that it keeps families together, rather than separating them into women’s and men’s shelters. Family Promise also works to provide a variety of resources to families so that they can enter into and remain in permanent housing. They provide a permanent solution rather than a temporary fix. When families move into their new homes, Family Promise gives them a housewarming gift of a laundry basket with household supplies. We’ll be gathering items fill these baskets all throughout Lent. For more information and to see a list, please click here.

Each Lent, our Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, and Peace & Justice ministries collaborate together each year to serve our community members in need. This year’s campaign is $1.00 A Day for Lent. Gifts made to $1.00 A Day will go toward purchasing gift cards from Safeway and Fred Meyer to be distributed to those in need. You can give by check (please write $1.00 A Day for Lent/SVdP in the memo) or electronically through Resurrection’s online giving platform, WeShare and select St. Vincent de Paul. Thank you!
