Message from Fr Bill
My dear parishioners,
For the past three months, the citizens of the State of Oregon were under a stay at home order until May when some businesses began opening up on a limited basis. At that time, Archbishop Sample asked the parishes to voluntarily begin opening up for public Masses with a 25 maximum number of people attending. Although some of the parishes in our area began having Masses open to the public, I decided to wait a few weeks until we had better information on the consequences of opening up.
Based upon the recommendations of the Archdiocese and the State of Oregon, Resurrection Parish will begin celebrating public Masses on Sunday, July 5, at 11:00 am. The congregation will be limited to 25 people total. This number includes the Celebrant, the musician, the lector and the hospitality minister. In the Blast today, you will find guidelines for these public Masses as well as directions for how to sign up in order to attend.
I know that the stay at home order has been very difficult for people. Many parishioners have expressed their interest in attending Mass again in the church. Although we have been live streaming a Mass every Sunday at 11:00 am and on Wednesday at Noon, that is, obviously, not the same as actually attending.
Please pray for the parish during this transition period. We want to begin carefully gathering once again as God’s people and in a way that is prudent and safe. My hope is that we will be able to livestream the public Mass at 11:00 am each Sunday beginning on July 5. Therefore, those who do not attend the public Mass, can, at least, attend virtually at the same time and unite with all of us in the one celebration of the Body and Blood of the Lord.
If you have any questions regarding this transition, please feel free to contact me at wmoisant@msn.com or call the parish office (503) 638-1579. May God continue to bless all of you in many ways, especially our fathers as we recognize them this weekend on Father’s Day.
