The Father’s Heart Street Ministry is a Christian-based day shelter in Oregon City. Their Ministry provides a safe refuge for the homeless population, which includes families living in vehicles, seniors, veterans, and single mothers and fathers. They provide resources for basic human needs, to name a few include: 3 meals a day (provided to more than 100 visitors four days a week), warm showers and haircuts, clothing exchange and basic medical. To learn more about their services, you can visit their website at www.tfhstreetministry.com.
Resurrection Catholic Parish is committed to helping those in need and specifically those who visit the Father’s Heart Street shelter. Together, we feed approximately 120-150 people each month through several meals.
It takes an entire parish to help with all the tasks necessary each month. Our volunteers are so generous! It has been a wonderful ministry, one that can allow you to be flexible with your volunteer time. You can choose to be hands-on with the shelter, or prepare meals with new friends at the parish, or you can donate supplies and food. The possibilities are unlimited! We are always looking for new volunteers, please sign-up.
If you have any questions, or you are interested in leading one of the volunteer categories listed below, please contact Holly Tichenor via email at htichenor123@gmail.com. Urgent questions can call (503) 739-5414.
These events and activities below have been altered to better protect guests and volunteers from exposure to COVID-19. Current sign-ups and needs are listed at the top of this page.
Serving Breakfast to the Homeless. 2nd Saturday of every month. The Father’s Heart Street shelter is not currently open Saturday-Monday. This Saturday Breakfast may be the only meal those in need will have for the weekend. Please join us as we prepare food at the parish kitchen and then directly serve up to 80 meals in three locations across Clackamas county. This activity is best for teenagers and older.
–Preparing sack lunches for the homeless community. This activity is best accomplished with lots of volunteers! The 4th Sunday is reserved for packing up non-perishable items in a sack lunch and the 4th Tuesday is reserved for making fresh sandwiches. These activities are done at the Parish. Please consider volunteering for a shift, this is a great opportunity for young children, families, and adults who prefer not to drive at night.
–Preparing a Hot Meal. Join us in the Parish kitchen to get hands-on making a hot meal for up to 120 homeless. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month in the evening. With a pre-selected menu, you will chop, mix, and prepare a hot meal that will be delivered to Father’s Heart Ministry the following day. Children 10+ are welcome to help with an adult.
–Delivery to Father’s Heart Street shelter. Do you have a spare hour in the morning on the 4th Wednesday of the month? Please consider partnering up with a friend or accompanying an experienced delivery driver to take sack lunches and a hot meal to the shelter in Oregon City. This activity would include using your own vehicle to pick up items at the parish kitchen in the morning and driving the items to the Oregon City shelter. It is rewarding to visit the shelter for a short bit of time to unload your car with the help of the homeless.
–Donations are much appreciated and needed monthly.
– We consistently need baked desserts for 100 people for the sack lunches and/or hot meal. This can be a fun activity to do in your home with a group! Items have to be fresh or frozen in time for the 4th Wednesday delivery every month. Click the above link under the “Sack Lunch” or “Hot Meal” category to sign-up.
