Welcome to OCIA!
Becoming a Catholic is a spiritual journey that believers have traveled for more than 2,000 years. This journey means spending time in prayer, thought, and reflection. It means becoming part of a community of women and men who are also on a journey of faith. God offers the gift of faith to all people. The essence of the Catholic faith is the belief in Jesus Christ, who became man to reveal truth about a loving and forgiving God.
OCIA is a journey of faith and a process of conversion to Jesus for:
- Christians who have been baptized in another faith tradition
- People seeking God and wanting to learn about the Catholic faith
- Catholics who want the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Learn More: Are you thinking about becoming a Catholic?
Embarking on OCIA at Resurrection – What to expect:
- An initial conversation with Betsy Taylor, our Faith Formation Director, to talk about your journey and how you can begin to explore it within OCIA
- Joining sessions that meet October through May. OCIA has four phases:
- Inquiry – fall through Christmas
- Catechumenate
- Enlightenment
- Mystagogy
- To honor the current group, once we enter the Catechumenate phase, newcomers are asked to join the next series (unless transferring from another Parish OCIA program).
- Next series begins October 4, 2026
What now?
If you are thinking about becoming Catholic, please email Betsy now so that she can guide you through the OCIA program. Meetings with other women and men on this faith journey begin as early as summer.
